April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player from the United States is part of a select category of females who have been awarded medals at several Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to claim her third Olympic medal with fellow the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win her Olympic debut gold but she is also aiming to win greater. At 39, this could be her final chance to do so. Still confident, however. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or play a great game, she believes the team will be able to win the gold medal. So I'm going to take some luck too. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. Ross went on to play in many sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. Along with indoor volleyball, she ran track and basketball in her pre-college days. She clearly was the top at the sport of indoor volleyball. According to her bio in high school, she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and setting (outside blocker). In recognition of her accomplishments, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman may be working on a project in the year 2017, however Ross was an experienced player at the beach before they came together. The American has been a major winner in competitions with different players. A couple of those has become an icon of the volleyball world. She teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who took home the title of world champion together with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the world stage. They were awarded a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she had retired. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a student athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning the start of her professional career. She played in high school, as well as some years before she hit the beach professionally. This was an impressive run for Ross at the college level. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans made it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year she suffered a devastating personal loss, yet was able to be named an All-American. In her last two seasons in the Trojans in the program they won victories by winning successive national titles. In 2003-04, Ross was named the best collegiate female volleyball player in the US through The Honda Sports Award. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter make it to the top in beach volleyball. When Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She has kept her parent close to heart. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her both in and out of the water.
