Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington works as an author, philanthropist, television host, and owner of The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she moved to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first non-English student to graduate, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she became an influential Conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political scene. Her fame led to the recruitment of a number of famous contributors who shared their opinions on the news political, culture and politics. Arianna became famous in 2003 as she stood for California's recall election, replacing then Governor Davis. In addition to this she was the leader of the Detroit Project to develop fuel efficient cars. Forbes named her as one of the "most powerful female" in the media industry, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most influential media people in 2009. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her president of that media company, which also included a number of then-existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and manager Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Even though she was close with her father, the relationship she had with her mother shaped the remainder of her life. From her early years, she displayed leadership qualities that are still highly regarded. At the age of sixteen, she left America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined Cambridge Union, a college debate group. Being the third woman president and the first foreigner she served as the head for the Cambridge Union. She graduated in 1972 with an honorary degree in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic and a television host. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She began to write books with his guidance in editing.
